About Us: North Balwyn Playcentre is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that provides quality occasional care for children aged 1 to 5. The children play and learn in a multi-age family style environment with the care and encouragement of highly skilled early childhood staff. Regular activities include story time, each other, and care about, which means the children can learn from, to name but a few. A maximum of 14 children attend each session, construction and dolls, dress-ups, trains, playdough, painting, drawing, puzzles, giving Playcentre a unique "family feel" that sets us apart from other care centres. Our Programme: Our friendly and caring highly qualified staff organise a play-based programme that provides the children with the opportunity to increase their independence and confidence and improve their social skills. To give parents a regular short break from the challenges of caring for their young children. To provide the local community with a safe, happy, nurturing place to leave their children for a short time on a regular basis. Our Mission: To provide high quality occasional care, combined with a pre-school programme, that meets the needs of all children. Parking facilities are available at the rear of the church. North Balwyn Playcentre is located at Doncaster Road, in a dedicated building at the rear of Trinity Uniting Church, near the terminus of the number 48 tram. The centre is open during school term time from 9am to 1pm, Tuesday to Friday. We are a community based organisation, supporting local families for over 30 years. (more).
